Jakke Expands with Ready-to-Wear Collection for SS23

London-based ethical fashion label Jakke is expanding its offerings by introducing a ready-to-wear collection for SS23. The brand, known for its faux fur creations, is now venturing into new territory with a range of styles including shirting, co-ords, dresses, lightweight trousers, shorts, and footwear.

Nina Hopkins, the Founder and Creative Director of Jakke, drew inspiration from the iconic artwork of British painter David Hockney, specifically his piece “A Bigger Splash California pool scene.” Hopkins aimed to capture the relaxed and calm vibe of California that Hockney depicted in her collection. She wants people to feel at ease and comfortable when wearing her designs.

The California influence is evident throughout the collection, with cactus references featured on a graphic T-shirt and a cactus print co-ord. Additionally, an uneven green stripe pattern reminiscent of a cactus’s stripes runs throughout the pieces. The collection also incorporates two shades of blue, representing the contrast between a pool and the vibrant Californian sky.

What distinguishes Jakke from other fashion labels is its commitment to sustainability. The brand embraces the use of recycled and reused materials in its production process, as well as incorporating organic fabrics, biodegradable Tencel, and recycled polyester. By expanding into ready-to-wear, Jakke is making a conscious effort to establish itself as a year-round brand, surpassing its previous focus on cool-weather garments.

Established in 2015 by Nina Hopkins in East London, Jakke has always prioritized animal welfare and cruelty-free fashion. The brand’s dedication to these values has earned them several awards, including Best Faux Fur Brand, Best Wool-Free Brand, and Best Vegan Brand in prestigious industry competitions. The introduction of ready-to-wear represents a significant milestone in Jakke’s growth and further solidifies its position as a leader in sustainable fashion.

Jakke’s SS23 collection marks an exciting new chapter for the brand, showcasing its evolution and adaptation to meet the demands of conscious consumers today. With its ethical practices and innovative designs, Jakke is poised to make a lasting impact on the fashion industry and inspire others to adopt more sustainable approaches.
