Italian fashion brand DSquared2 closes flagship store in London

Italian fashion brand DSquared2 has recently closed its flagship store in the heart of London’s West End, seven years after its grand opening. The store, strategically located on the corner of Conduit Street and Savile Row, had initially positioned itself near prestigious luxury shopping destinations like Bond Street and Regent Street. However, over the past two years, the store experienced a challenging retail environment, leading to extended periods of closure. Even after reopening, the lack of tourists in London had a significant impact on customer footfall, ultimately contributing to the decision to close the 8,612 sq ft location.

The three-story store, which first welcomed customers in March 2015, showcased DSquared2’s complete range of products, catering to both men and women. The store offered clothing, accessories, bags, eyewear, footwear, and fragrances. Although the store remains active on the brand’s website, calls to the store currently go unanswered. This closure comes as a setback for DSquared2. However, the brand continues to maintain a presence in London through its numerous stockists, which include prominent department stores such as Harrods, Harvey Nichols, and Selfridges – the latter being in close proximity to the flagship store.

The closure of the flagship store will surely be disappointing for DSquared2 founders Dean and Dan Caten, who had made London their part-time home during the ambitious launch of the retail site. This development represents the end of an era for the brand in London’s bustling retail scene and underscores the challenges faced by luxury retailers in recent years. Nevertheless, DSquared2 remains dedicated to maintaining its brand presence and will seek to engage with customers through its stockists and other channels.
