International Talent Support Contest Introduces Sustainable Fashion Prize

The International Talent Support Contest is gearing up for its upcoming edition, featuring the debut of the first sustainable fashion prize. This renowned competition, created by Barbara Franchin back in 2002, is scheduled to kick off this Friday in Trieste at Magazzino 42, the ferry port’s passenger terminal.

This year, the competition attracted a record-breaking 800+ applications from 80 different countries. From this pool, a panel including Barbara Franchin and other esteemed individuals like Aitor Throup, Glenn Martens, Marie-Claire Daveu, and Renzo Rosso meticulously selected 26 up-and-coming talents from 15 nations.

The 26 finalists will vie for the prestigious ITS Award, generously sponsored by Allianz, offering a substantial €15,000 cash prize. The victor will also benefit from mentorship and advisory services from Pitti Immagine’s consulting division, as well as the chance to present their collection at either Pitti Uomo or the Super de Milan trade show.

In addition to the grand prize, other accolades up for grabs include €5,000 from the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, as well as various rewards from backers such as Swatch, Tomorrow, Coin Excelsior, and Vogue Talents. The OTB Prize of €10,000 provides an internship at one of Renzo Rossi’s fashion labels, while the Diesel Prize offers a coveted six-month placement at the renowned denim brand.

In a nod to the growing emphasis on sustainability, three new awards have been introduced this year. The ITS Sustainability Award will honor the most eco-conscious project with a €3,000 prize, and the Lotto Sport Award will grant a three-month internship at Lotto Sport Italia.

Adding a unique twist to the mix, the Illycaffè director hand-picked 10 finalists to reimagine classic café waiter uniforms for the ITS Fashion@Work by Illy accolade, featuring a €10,000 reward. Swatch also joins the fray by providing a special prize for creativity, in collaboration with Illycaffè.

The International Talent Support Contest is poised to deliver an electrifying event that highlights budding talent in the fashion sector, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and innovation.
