Interbrand’s Best Global Brands ranking for 2020

Interbrand’s Best Global Brands ranking for 2020 has been released, showcasing the most powerful brands of the year. This ranking is determined based on three key elements: financial health, brand role, and brand strength. To assess these factors, Interbrand analyzes ten indicators including clarity of proposition, internal engagement, governance, authenticity, and media presence.

While technology and electronics brands dominate the Top 10, with Apple, Google, and Amazon taking the lead, new players like Dell Technologies and LinkedIn have made their debut in the global ranking. This year, the luxury sector has experienced the highest increase in brand value, with nine luxury houses in the Top 100. This growth can be attributed to the sector’s ability to adapt to young consumers and their emphasis on creativity, integration of new technological trends, and impactful retail experiences.

Among the brands mentioned in the ranking, Louis Vuitton has secured the 17th place with a 14% increase in value, followed by Chanel at 22nd place with an 11% increase. Hermès, Gucci, and Cartier also feature in the ranking, showcasing an upward trend in value. However, some brands like Tiffany & Co and Prada have suffered a decrease in value.

The study also sheds light on the challenges faced by brands in a market saturated with options, declining consumer loyalty, and disruptive business models. Charles Trevail, Global CEO of Interbrand, suggests that the age of brand positioning is over and brands must take bold and iconic actions to stay competitive. This involves transforming consumer-brand interactions, driving internal changes, and achieving exceptional business performance.
