Institute of Positive Fashion Forum

The British Fashion Council (BFC) has unveiled the schedule for the upcoming third annual Institute of Positive Fashion (IPF) Forum. This day-long conference is dedicated to promoting sustainability within the British fashion industry and will be held on April 20th at 180 Studios in London.

The primary objective of the IPF Forum is to bring together key stakeholders in the industry and encourage collaborative efforts towards establishing a circular fashion ecosystem in the UK by 2030. The event will mainly focus on addressing the climate-related challenges faced by the fashion industry and finding innovative solutions.

With over 30 speakers set to deliver visionary keynotes and engage in panel discussions, the forum promises to be a hub of knowledge and inspiration. Moreover, ‘hack’ sessions have been incorporated into the program to facilitate productive collaboration and drive positive change in the industry.

One of the standout features of the forum is the highly anticipated 2023 Innovation Showcase. This segment will showcase a curated selection of innovators who are actively working towards addressing sustainability and responsible business challenges across the fashion value chain. Deloitte, serving as the IPF Forum’s Delivery Collaborator, will provide practical guidance on integrating low-carbon practices into the supply chain through a dedicated workshop.

Among the keynote speakers, Tyler LaMotte, Marketing Director of Patagonia EMEA, will discuss how Patagonia is leveraging the power of action as the planet’s sole shareholder. Joon Silverstein, SVP Global Marketing, Creative and Sustainability for Coach, along with Emily Chan, Senior Sustainability and Features Editor for British Vogue, will introduce the concept of the circular economy and Coachtopia, opening up a new world of circular craft.

The hack sessions at the forum will cover a range of topics, including creating city-level circular fashion ecosystems, empowering citizens through technology for garment care, and measuring the impact of circularity on the path to achieving net-zero emissions. Notable speakers for these sessions include Jules Lennon, Fashion Initiative Lead at the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, and Amy Powney, Creative Director of Mother of Pearl.

In addition to the speaker sessions, the forum will also host a series of workshops and showcases, including the Student Fabric Initiative powered by The Materialist. Participants can also attend a workshop on successful traceability program implementation with TrusTrace.

The Institute of Positive Fashion Forum serves as a pivotal event for the British fashion industry, as it aims to foster collaboration and inspire positive change towards sustainability. With an impressive lineup of speakers and a diverse range of sessions, this year’s forum is poised to be an essential platform for addressing the industry’s most pressing climate-related challenges and promoting the establishment of a circular fashion ecosystem in the UK.
