Instagram Insights: SS21 Fashion Weeks

Instagram has become the social network of choice for the fashion industry and its enthusiasts, and trend detection company Heuritech recently analyzed 60,000 Instagram posts related to the SS21 Fashion Weeks to gain insights. The most mentioned Fashion Week was Paris, accounting for 41% of associated posts, followed by Milan (36%), London (13%), and New York (10%). Milan saw an increase in score compared to 2019, while New York saw a significant decline, attributed to the freezing of international flows and show cancellations due to COVID-19 measures.

Despite social distancing measures, Chanel’s latest show remained popular, with 9.6% of mentions in the analyzed posts. The show, which paid homage to actresses, captured the attention of Instagrammers. Christian Dior (6.7%) and Louis Vuitton (6.1%) followed closely behind. Prada, known for its cross-conversation between Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons during its latest show, and Bottega Veneta also made it to the Top 5.

In terms of designers, Jonathan Anderson took first place, having presented a playful and creative happening for Loewe in the form of a “show on the wall”. Other notable designers in the Top 10 included Nicolas Ghesquière (Louis Vuitton), Marc Jacobs, Maria Grazia Chiuri (Dior), Dries Van Noten, Olivier Rousteing (Balmain), Riccardo Tisci (Burberry), and Virginie Viard (Chanel).
