Insights into the TOP 100 Fashion Brands that Will Thrive in 2021

Grégoire Mialet, President and co-founder of C-Ways, a strategic and marketing agency based on data science, shares insights into the TOP 100 fashion brands that will thrive in 2021. To establish this ranking, C-Ways utilized their artificial intelligence tool, Nextrends, to collect real-time data from 37 global sources such as social media, search engines, and specialized sites. The collected data, which amounts to hundreds of millions of data points, was cleaned and transformed to identify trend indicators.

Historic luxury brands like Louis Vuitton, Dior, and Prada performed well in 2020, gaining followers and increasing brand awareness. DNVB brands, or Digitally Native Vertical Brands, also saw success. For this ranking, C-Ways focused on brand dynamics rather than positioning, combining high-end luxury brands with fast-fashion brands to analyze their evolution and complementarity. The luxury sector has weathered the health crisis well, with DNVB brands and major houses that innovated and adapted, such as offering alternative fashion shows, standing out.

Differentiating between a brand’s fanbase and actual buyers can be challenging but crucial. C-Ways looks at the influence score of followers through the quality of likes and comments, as well as their profile and interaction with other brands. Established brands with a large following may have emotionally inspired fans who are not necessarily in a buying situation. Major trends include inclusivity, body positivity, and Made in France. In the leather goods segment, mini bags and baguette bags are emerging, while in ready-to-wear, contrasting trends of loungewear and highly structured silhouettes with a neo-bourgeois or preppy style are observed.
