Icons of British Fashion Exhibition at Blenheim Palace

The upcoming “Icons of British Fashion” exhibition at Blenheim Palace in Woodstock, Oxfordshire is generating excitement as it prepares to showcase designs by the late fashion icon Vivienne Westwood. Running from March 23rd to June 30th, the exhibition will take place in the palace’s Great Hall and will feature not only Westwood’s creations but also the work of other iconic British designers such as Jean Muir, Terry de Havilland, Bruce Oldfield, Zandra Rhodes, Lulu Guinness, Turnbull & Asser, Barbour, Temperley London, and Stephen Jones Millinery for Christian Dior.

Within the exhibition, the Westwood brand will proudly present a selection of pieces that exemplify their signature style. This collection will include meticulously handcrafted gowns, corsets, and capes from their London atelier. The exhibition will not only celebrate Westwood’s contributions to fashion but also pay homage to Sir Winston Churchill, who was born at Blenheim Palace. As a tribute, a special smoking cap featuring Churchill’s embroidered initials will be on display, thanks to Stephen Jones.

This exhibition aims to highlight the enduring influence of British fashion on the global stage. Kate Ballenger, the Keeper of Palace and Collections at Blenheim Palace, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “Our Palace is the perfect backdrop to showcase the lasting impact of British fashion on the global stage over the years, and we can’t wait to open our doors to the public and finally show everyone what has been years in the making.”

An exciting aspect of this exhibition is that admission will be free for visitors with a valid Blenheim Palace ticket, which includes access to the Palace, Park and Gardens, Annual Pass, or Privilege Pass. This provides a wonderful opportunity for both fashion enthusiasts and general visitors to explore the historical significance of Blenheim Palace in conjunction with the influential designs of British fashion icons. With Vivienne Westwood’s designs prominently featured, the exhibition is poised to become a must-see event for fashion lovers and anyone fascinated by British culture.
