Iconic French Jewelry House Mellerio Collaborates with Renowned French Dancer Hugo Marchand

Iconic French jewelry house Mellerio, renowned for its 400-year history and 15 generations of family involvement, is embarking on a journey of rejuvenation. The beloved brand, which has been favored by European royals throughout the centuries, aims to attract a younger audience and share its lesser-known story with the general public. To achieve this, Mellerio has partnered with renowned French dancer Hugo Marchand.

During Paris Haute Couture Week, Mellerio announced its collaboration with Marchand. The brand explained that the elegance and grace of dance, much like the purity of a diamond, captivate both men and women. Therefore, it was only natural for the world’s oldest jeweler to join forces with the “étoile” dancer.

The official presentation of the new ambassador took place at an intimate cocktail party held in one of Mellerio’s rooms at its boutique near the Opéra Garnier in the heart of Paris. With Mellerio’s establishment in the French capital since 1613, the proximity to the iconic opera house made this partnership inevitable.

Marchand revealed that he often passed by the Mellerio boutique on his way to work and felt a natural connection between the two entities due to their shared values. The dancer’s love for fashion is evident as he frequently attends fashion shows, including those of renowned designer Giorgio Armani. With his worldwide recognition since achieving the prestigious “étoile” status in Tokyo in 2017, Marchand’s collaboration with Mellerio further elevates his profile.

In celebration of their collaboration, Mellerio and Marchand drew inspiration from dance to create the iconic ‘Mellerio Cut’ diamond. This exquisite jewel pays homage to the renowned Beau Sancy diamond and the historical association between Mellerio and Queen Marie de Médicis since 1613. Japan has also played a significant role for the brand, with its presence spanning over 30 years and being the preferred choice of the Imperial Court.

According to Laure-Isabelle Mellerio, president and artistic director of the brand, 2023 holds exciting promise for showcasing the talents of both Mellerio and Marchand. As a member of the 14th generation of the Mellerio family, Laure-Isabelle brings a diverse background in interior design, art history, and gemology. Her vision for the oldest family-owned jewelry house in France is to cultivate an authentic and contemporary image through modern and elegant pieces influenced by Italy. These distinct creations feature contrasting shapes, colors, and luxurious materials.

Through the collaboration between Mellerio and Marchand, the iconic French jewelry brand aims to captivate a new audience while continuing its legacy of craftsmanship and elegance.
