Hyve Group Exceeds Expectations with Strong Recovery in In-Person Events

Hyve Group, the organizer of popular tradeshows including Pure London and Moda, has announced encouraging updates regarding the recovery of in-person events. The company has exceeded its own expectations, with significant progress seen in the third quarter. Following a successful first half of the year, Q3 has become the group’s second busiest quarter, following the sale of their Russian business in May.

During the period from April 1 to June 24, Hyve Group successfully held nine in-person events across four continents, with the exception of three events in Ukraine. One notable success was the US edition of Shoptalk in March, which became Hyve’s most lucrative event to date. Building on this achievement, the company launched Shoptalk Europe, a geographically similar version of the event. The inaugural Shoptalk Europe attracted over 3,000 attendees from more than 50 countries, almost doubling expectations. Furthermore, Hyve facilitated over 4,700 one-on-one meetings through their tech-enabled meeting programs, including Shoptalk Europe.

Moving forward, Hyve has forward bookings totaling £122.3 million for the full year, excluding £6.5 million of forthcoming Chinese events in August. However, events in Ukraine remain postponed until further notice due to ongoing circumstances. CEO Mark Shashoua acknowledged the uncertainties surrounding events in China, but highlighted the relaxation of Covid-19 restrictions in certain regions. He emphasized the value that in-person events offer and the success of their strategy to focus on market-leading events.

The successful launch of Shoptalk Europe demonstrates Hyve Group’s ability to seize opportunities for organic growth. The company is now shifting its focus from geographies to sectors, with particular attention on industries experiencing growth and technology-led disruption. Hyve’s omnichannel strategy has also contributed to their success, providing additional opportunities for customers to connect, network, and conduct business.

The upcoming Pure London show will mark its return as a standalone event, having previously been presented alongside Scoop as a joint event during the pandemic. These positive developments signal Hyve Group’s strong recovery in the tradeshows sector and their dedication to delivering valuable in-person events in the future.
