Hunter Appoints Paolo Porta as New CEO

Hunter, a renowned boots and clothing brand, has recently announced Paolo Porta as its new CEO following a successful nine-month stint as interim chief executive. Porta’s leadership has proven crucial in steering Hunter through the initial phases of a repositioning strategy and navigating the challenges brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.

During his tenure as interim CEO, Porta oversaw a substantial surge in e-commerce sales in the UK, with a remarkable 94% increase in sales from the last quarter of 2020 onwards. This growth was primarily attributable to the brand’s flagship rain boot category, particularly the Original Wellington boot which experienced an impressive 89% surge in sales and often selling out in key sizes.

With a wealth of experience spanning over two decades in the luxury fashion industry, including roles at Christian Dior, Stella McCartney, Burberry, and Jimmy Choo, Porta’s appointment has been lauded by Hunter’s chairman, Andrew Lawley. Lawley commended Porta’s leadership and expertise in global lifestyle brands, noting his composed demeanor and decisive decision-making especially during times of uncertainty.

In light of his new role, Porta voiced his enthusiasm for the future of Hunter, expressing confidence in a promising and prosperous journey ahead for the brand. Under his guidance, Hunter has introduced an updated brand strategy, concentrating on fortifying the Brand and Creative leadership teams by bringing on board top talent in their respective domains.

Some recent notable hires include Sandra Romboli as Global Design Director and Claudia Plant as Chief Marketing Officer, both possessing extensive backgrounds from reputable brands like Decathlon, Reebok, Adidas, Burberry, and Net-a-Porter. Porta and his team are dedicated to propelling sustainable growth through a premium outdoor product range, with footwear positioned at the center, all while prioritizing a customer-centric and digital-first approach.

As Hunter embraces its new CEO, the brand is poised for continued achievements and expansion in the outdoor apparel sector, building upon the strong outcomes achieved in 2020 under Porta’s interim leadership.
