Hugo Boss Partners with HeiQ AeoniQ for Sustainable Fashion

The Hugo Boss Group, currently focusing on revitalizing its brands, has recently made its first investment in eco-responsibility by partnering with HeiQ AeoniQ LLC. This collaboration involves a $5 million investment in HeiQ AeoniQ, a company specializing in sustainable cellulosic filament yarns. These yarns, made from renewable energy and cellulosic biopolymers, have the potential to replace oil-based materials like nylon and polyester in fashion production.

One significant feature of HeiQ AeoniQ’s threads is their closed-loop recycling capability, which exceeds 99.5%. This means that almost all of the material used can be recycled and reused, without the need for toxic chemicals. According to Hugo Boss, if each ton of nylon and polyester in their production is replaced by HeiQ AeoniQ yarn, it could potentially reduce up to five tons of CO2 emissions.

This investment aligns with Hugo Boss’s commitment to sustainability and their goal of achieving carbon neutrality for their operations by 2030, and throughout their value chain by 2045. CEO Daniel Grieder expressed that this partnership signifies an essential milestone in their journey toward becoming a leading global high-end fashion platform that prioritizes technology and sustainability. Hugo Boss plans to gradually integrate the use of HeiQ AeoniQ’s yarns in their production processes.

Depending on the accomplishment of predetermined objectives, the initial $5 million investment could be followed by an additional $4 million agreement to expedite the development of HeiQ AeoniQ.
