Hugo Boss Establishes Environmental Foundation

The HUGO and BOSS group has taken a significant step towards sustainability by establishing an environmental foundation. The foundation, named “Hugo Boss Stiftung gGmbH,” aims to contribute to local and global projects focused on areas such as flood protection, climate innovation, and the fight against plastic pollution. The company is committed to aligning all its initiatives with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to ensure a meaningful impact.

Hugo Boss CEO, Daniel Grieder, emphasized the importance of corporate citizenship and stated that the foundation would take their commitment to the planet to a new level. He expressed the company’s dedication to supporting initiatives that bring about positive change in the world.

To fund the projects, Hugo Boss will adopt the “every purchase counts” approach. Starting from January 1, 2023, the company will donate five cents for every product sold through both physical and online channels, excluding licensed items. This strategy will provide a sustainable and ongoing source of financial support for the foundation’s initiatives.

This move towards sustainability comes as the luxury industry as a whole is increasing its focus on eco-responsibility. Other prominent brands, such as LVMH, Coty, Tiffany & Co., and Ruinart, have also made significant commitments to environmental preservation and climate action. As the year comes to a close, many luxury companies are showcasing their initiatives and setting ambitious goals for a greener future.

For Hugo Boss, this is another step towards their ambitious targets. In February, the company invested heavily in HeiQ AeoniQ LLC, a specialized company that designs sustainable cellulosic filament yarns. This investment aligns with Hugo Boss’s long-term goal of achieving carbon neutrality throughout its value chain by 2045. The company’s dedication to sustainability reflects its desire to meet the expectations of a customer base increasingly conscious of environmental issues.

Overall, the establishment of the Hugo Boss Foundation demonstrates the company’s commitment to sustainable practices and its recognition of the urgent need to protect the planet. By investing in environmental projects and actively engaging in global efforts, Hugo Boss aims to make a positive impact and contribute to a greener future.
