House of Fraser Faces Backlash for Refusing Refunds

House of Fraser is once again in hot water as the department store chain faces backlash for refusing to refund customers for undelivered goods or gift cards. This unpopular decision comes on the heels of the company’s acquisition by Sports Direct, leading to its collapse into administration.

In a move that has shocked and angered many, House of Fraser cancelled all online orders and took down its website in August following a dispute with its warehouse operator. Initially, the company promised affected customers that they would receive refunds, but this assurance has now been retracted. Instead, customers are being directed to the administrator EY to process refund requests.

Unfortunately for customers, the refund process is expected to be arduous and uncertain, with reports indicating that they may only receive a fraction of the amount they originally spent. Despite Sports Direct’s acquisition of the struggling retailer for £90 million, the company is not legally obligated to refund orders placed before the administration.

Even after reaching a resolution with XPO, the logistics company in charge of its distribution centers, House of Fraser’s website has remained offline. This prolonged closure has left countless customers in limbo, unsure of what will happen to their outstanding orders and gift cards.

This latest development has further tarnished House of Fraser’s already damaged reputation, and many customers are now questioning the future of the iconic department store chain. The uncertainty and frustration surrounding the refund process have only added to the growing discontent among consumers.
