Hermès Unveils Stunning Transformation of Lyon Boutique

After undergoing several weeks of renovation work, the luxury house has unveiled the stunning transformation of its address on Rue du Président Edouard Henriot in Lyon, which is famously known as the silk capital. The focus of the new design is brocade, a rich and intricate textile.

Despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Parisian brand experienced growth in 2020 and continues to expand its production and distribution network. The opening of this boutique in Lyon demonstrates Hermès’ commitment to creating retail destinations that not only embody the brand’s essence but also reflect the unique characteristics of their locations. What sets this Lyon boutique apart is its close proximity to the Textile Holding Hermès, located just a few kilometers away in Pierre-Bénite. With over 860 employees dedicated to the creation of printed items in various fabrics including cotton, cashmere, and silk, this production site exemplifies the local influence that is reflected in the boutique’s design.

The design concept of the store, spanning over 300m2, pays homage to the craftsmanship associated with brocade. The renowned RDAI agency, in collaboration with the fabric publisher Métaphores, has created a unique pattern that serves as an architectural interpretation of the woven fabric. This pattern is showcased on wall hangings, woodwork, and even the staff uniforms, creating a cohesive and distinctive aesthetic that embodies the local identity.

In addition to the emphasis on brocade, printed silk “à la lyonnaise” takes center stage in the boutique. Exclusive to this location, the boutique showcases a new coloration of the Jaguar Quetzal scarf, designed by talented British artist Alice Shirley. Limited to only 300 copies, the proceeds from the sales of this special edition scarf will be donated to the Espérance Banlieues association, further reinforcing Hermès’ commitment to supporting charitable causes.

In conclusion, Hermès’ Lyon boutique represents a fusion of luxury, artistry, and regional heritage. The attention to detail and the incorporation of local elements, such as brocade and printed silk, create a unique and immersive retail experience. By intertwining the brand’s codes with the distinctiveness of its locations, Hermès continues to solidify its position as a leader in the luxury fashion industry.
