Hermès Receives Grand Prix Emploi France and Recognized for Commitment to Social Practices

Hermès, the renowned luxury brand, has once again been awarded the prestigious Grand Prix Emploi France by Humpact, an extra-financial rating agency. This marks the second consecutive year that Hermès has received this distinction, affirming its position as one of the most employment-friendly companies in France across all sectors.

The Grand Prix Emploi France recognizes not only Hermès’ success in job creation but also its dedication to implementing good social practices. The brand’s commitment to promoting craftsmanship and fostering local engagement is highlighted through this prestigious award.

Hermès’ highly integrated artisanal model plays a crucial role in creating skilled jobs within the country and promoting social inclusion. Over the past decade, the company’s workforce has doubled, and this growth has continued even amidst the challenges posed by the global health crisis. In 2020, Hermès created 861 new positions and ensured the preservation of employment and basic salaries for its employees worldwide without relying on government assistance. These individuals represent the brand’s heritage and embody the essence of exceptional craftsmanship.

Currently, the Hermès Group employs 16,600 people globally, with 10,383 based in France alone. The company has further expanded its workforce through the establishment of new leather goods workshops in Montereau and Saint Vincent de Paul. To meet the increasing demand, additional manufacturing facilities are scheduled to be set up in Eure in 2022, Ardennes in 2023, and Puy-de-Dôme in 2024. In September 2020, Hermès also inaugurated the École Hermès des savoir-faire, an approved school by the French Ministry of Education, within its leather goods workshop in Fitilieu, Isère.

In addition to its commitment to job creation and social practices, Hermès continues to promote its craftsmanship through initiatives such as “Hermès in the Making.” This event, which was first launched in Copenhagen last year, showcases the various trades within the brand and emphasizes the preservation and transmission of craftsmanship, the use of high-quality materials, a long-term commitment, and local engagement. Led by Hermès artisans, this initiative will be replicated in other cities worldwide in the near future.

Furthermore, Hermès received recognition for its commitment to diversity and inclusion by securing the top spot in the European Diversity and Inclusion ranking conducted by the Financial Times. This accolade demonstrates the brand’s dedication to creating an inclusive and supportive work environment for its employees.
