Hermès in the Making

Parisian luxury house Hermès has introduced its latest brand event, “Hermès in the Making,” which will be showcased in Denmark until October 24th. The event will subsequently be expanded to other international locations in the coming months. The aim of this initiative is to provide the general public with the opportunity to interact with the skilled artisans of Hermès. This event commenced in Copenhagen on October 15th at the Danish Architecture Center.

“Hermès in the Making” is a ten-day event that focuses on showcasing the brand’s craftsmanship and expertise. The program for this event revolves around four main themes, namely the preservation and transmission of know-how, the emphasis on the quality and respect for materials, the commitment to long-term sustainability, and the importance of local anchoring. These themes are brought to life through an exhibition featuring the work of around ten artisans from various departments within Hermès, including Leatherwork, Saddlery, Watchmaking, and Silk. The artisans will share the intricacies of their respective crafts through a series of interactive activities such as animated demonstrations, workshops, roundtable discussions, and conferences.

Apart from the immersive experience with the artisans, visitors to the event will also have the opportunity to watch “Empreintes sur le monde” (Imprints on the World), a collection of films created by documentary maker Frédéric Laffont that highlights Hermès’ commitment to sustainable development. Recently, Hermès received recognition for its transparency in sustainable practices. The incorporation of these films underscores the brand’s dedication to environmental stewardship.

The launch of “Hermès in the Making” in Denmark marks the beginning of a traveling event that will visit several major cities in the future. Much like the successful Carré Club, which provided a unique Hermès scarf experience, this event aims to bring the world of Hermès closer to a wider audience. The specific details and locations for the upcoming cities are yet to be announced.

If you are in Copenhagen, don’t miss the opportunity to visit the “Hermès in the Making” exhibition, which will run until October 24th, 2021. The exhibition is located at Bryghuspladsen 10, providing a firsthand experience of Hermès’ exceptional craftsmanship and dedication to sustainable practices.
