Hermès Foundation: Supporting Equal Opportunities in Performing Arts

Luxury maison Hermès is continuing its commitment to promoting equal opportunities in the performing arts field through its foundation. The foundation’s program, known as “Artists in the City,” was initially introduced in 2019 and focuses on providing support to students enrolled in higher education programs specializing in dance, theater, or circus. The program collaborates with nineteen partner institutions affiliated with the Hermès Corporate Foundation, aiming to offer aspiring artists the means to fully immerse themselves in their studies while integrating into the professional artistic community.

As part of the “Artists in the City” initiative, selected students receive a monthly scholarship for up to three academic years. This financial assistance is based on social criteria, allowing talented individuals from diverse backgrounds to pursue their artistic passions without the burden of financial constraints. By providing this support, Hermès aims to ensure that young artists can dedicate themselves entirely to their studies while fostering their integration within the professional artistic circuit.

Interested students can submit their applications for the program until September 16, 2022, through a dedicated page on Hermès Foundation’s website. The foundation encourages eligible students to take advantage of this opportunity and take the first step towards fulfilling their artistic ambitions.

In addition to the “Artists in the City” program, the Hermès Foundation has also announced an open call for applications for its “New Settings” initiative. Introduced in 2011, this program focuses on supporting the creation of performing arts shows, encompassing everything from production to dissemination. Previously, applications were only accepted annually. However, as part of the latest update, the program will now consider applications throughout the year, thanks to the establishment of three selection committees that convene on different dates.

This expansion of the application process for the “New Settings” program allows artists and creators in the performing arts field to submit their proposals at their convenience, increasing their chances of receiving support. Whether these projects involve new and innovative approaches to performance or aim to highlight underrepresented stories and themes, the Hermès Foundation is eager to discover and encourage creativity in all its forms.

By investing in these two initiatives, the Hermès Foundation is actively contributing to the development of the performing arts industry by nurturing young talents and supporting the creation of groundbreaking artistic productions. Through these programs, Hermès continues to uphold its commitment to fostering equal opportunities and ensuring that the performing arts remain an inclusive and vibrant realm.

It is worth noting that additional information and application details for both programs can be found on the Hermès Foundation’s website [Add relevant hyperlink here] for those interested in applying or exploring further opportunities in the performing arts field.
