Hermès Expands with New Leather Goods Workshop in Auvergne

Hermès, the renowned French luxury brand known for its exquisite leather goods and sophisticated lifestyle products, is forging ahead with ambitious plans for expansion. The latest addition to this journey is the announcement of a new leather goods workshop in the picturesque Auvergne region of France. Set against the backdrop of rolling hills and scenic beauty, this new facility is poised to create 250 new job opportunities by the year 2023.

This move comes on the heels of Hermès’ recent project in Normandy, where the brand inaugurated its twentieth leather goods factory, with plans already underway for a twenty-first factory in the Ardennes region. The decision to establish a workshop in Auvergne underscores Hermès’ commitment to fostering economic growth in regions that are often overlooked. The exact location of the new facility within the urban agglomeration area of Riom Limagne and Volcans is still being finalized, but the promise of stimulating the local economy is a driving force behind the decision.

Hermès has deep-rooted ties to Auvergne, with existing partnerships in the region, such as the operational facility in Sayat. The addition of the new workshop will bring the total number of Hermès jobs in Auvergne to 500, strengthening the brand’s presence in the area. While the factory won’t be fully operational for a few more years, Hermès is already laying the groundwork by initiating training for artisans at a temporary atelier in Riom starting in November 2020. The long-term goal is to create a total of 750 new jobs in France with the establishment of three new factories, primarily in regions where employment opportunities are limited.

This forward-thinking approach by Hermès not only underscores its commitment to preserving traditional craftsmanship and manufacturing expertise but also demonstrates a dedication to sustainable growth in the luxury sector. Despite challenges like a significant decline in sales due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Hermès continues to invest in expanding its production capabilities. This strategic decision not only solidifies Hermès’ standing as a paragon of luxury goods but also sends a strong message of resilience and innovation to its customers, investors, and competitors.

As Hermès forges ahead with its expansion plans and unwavering dedication to quality, the brand remains a trailblazer in the world of high-end fashion and craftsmanship. Stay tuned for more updates on Hermès’ ventures and contributions to the luxury industry!
