A luxury house, Hermès, has been awarded the Grand Prix Humpact Emploi France 2020 in the category of “job creating companies.” This prestigious award, presented by Humpact, an extra-financial rating agency on employment, recognizes Hermès for its significant contribution to job creation in France. The brand has demonstrated an impressive 8% increase in its workforce over the past two years, highlighting its commitment to local employment to meet international demand.
Hermès, founded in 1837, places a strong emphasis on innovation and the transmission of know-how. In line with this, the company is expanding its territorial presence by opening two new leather goods workshops this year in Guyenne (Gironde) and Montereau (Seine et Marne). Furthermore, Hermès has plans to establish a manufacturing site in Louviers (Eure) in 2022, followed by another location in the Ardennes in 2023. These strategic investments in various regions aim to enhance the brand’s production capacity and ensure sustainable growth, despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 crisis in 2020.
Olivier Fournier, General Director of Governance and Organizational Development at Hermès, expressed his pride in receiving the Humpact award. He highlighted the brand’s artisanal model, which is deeply rooted in local communities and driven by social commitment. Fournier emphasized that Hermès believes in the importance of creating qualified jobs and providing access to training, as these elements are crucial for both economic development and social inclusion. He firmly stated that economic value creation cannot exist without the creation of social value.
Over the past decade, Hermès has been instrumental in opening nine leather goods workshops and employing more than 2,500 artisans in France. The brand’s dedication to craftsmanship and its positive impact on local economies have been recognized and celebrated through this esteemed award.
