Guy Laroche, the well-known French ready-to-wear label, has recently formed a licensing agreement with Rodolfo Zengarini for the purpose of producing and distributing their shoes and handbags for both men and women. With Zengarini’s expertise in designing shoes for renowned fashion designer John Galliano, this collaboration is expected to bring a fresh and innovative touch to Guy Laroche’s accessory collections. Although the duration of the agreement has not been revealed, the partnership is set to kick off with the launch of the spring-summer 2023 collection, which will be unveiled at the upcoming MICAM shoe fair in Milan from September 18 to 20.
The footwear collection will showcase contemporary interpretations of the brand’s iconic models, along with a wide selection of unisex sports pieces in a variety of colors. On the other hand, the bag line will feature a range of options including tote bags, clutches, “hobo” bags, and backpacks. This diverse range of products aims to cater to the evolving preferences of consumers in the fashion industry.
Initially established in 1957 as a high fashion house by the eponymous Guy Laroche, the brand underwent a change in ownership in 2004 and is currently owned by the Hong Kong-based company Ygm Trading Ltd. In order to infuse new energy into the brand, Guy Laroche appointed Richard René from France as its creative director in 2017. This move was aimed at rejuvenating the brand and positioning it as a contemporary and accessible luxury label.
To ensure the widespread availability of the collections resulting from the collaboration, Guy Laroche and Rodolfo Zengarini will leverage the distribution network of the latter. Rodolfo Zengarini’s showrooms, located in prominent fashion capitals such as Milan, New York, Paris, Antwerp, and Dubai, will serve as key distribution points for the footwear and handbag collections. This strategic partnership envisions global expansion for Guy Laroche’s accessory lines, while capitalizing on Rodolfo Zengarini’s established reputation and strong presence in the industry.
