Gucci’s Fashion Show at Palais Pitti in Florence

The prestigious Palais Pitti in Florence has been chosen as the temporary venue for Gucci’s highly anticipated fashion show. Creative director Alessandro Michele will unveil his Cruise 2018 collection on May 29th in this magnificent setting. After being denied access to the temples of the Acropolis in Greece, Gucci decided that the historic Palais Pitti would provide the perfect backdrop for its models.

The show will take place in the Galerie Palatine within the Pitti Palace, a remarkable architectural masterpiece. This location not only serves as a museum for the Florentine palace, but also houses renowned Renaissance masterpieces by artists such as Raphael and Titian.

The Palais Pitti holds great historical significance as the former residence of the prestigious Medici family in the 16th century. This adds to the atmosphere that Alessandro Michele aims to capture, in order to highlight his Cruise 2018 creations.

Gucci has a reputation for selecting exceptional locations for its fashion shows. Last year, they chose Westminster Abbey in London, showcasing their commitment to presenting their collections in prestigious settings. This year, Gucci returns to its roots by choosing one of Italy’s most iconic palaces as the venue for their fashion show. While details about the event are yet to be revealed, it is expected that Alessandro Michele will deliver a spectacle that embodies excellence, uniqueness, and deep emotional connection.

During a press conference in Florence, Gucci also announced their financial support for the restoration of the nearby Boboli Gardens, an adjacent garden to the Palais Pitti. Over the course of three years, Gucci will invest 2 million euros in this restoration project.
