Gucci has joined forces with Dover Street Market, the renowned concept store, to release a men’s collection that will be exclusively sold at their stores. Designed by Alessandro Michele, the artistic director of Gucci, this collaboration showcases his exceptional creativity. Michele, who is known for his innovative approach to revamping Gucci, has crafted a capsule collection specifically for Dover Street Market.
The limited-edition range will be presented at Dover Street Market’s flagship stores in Ginza, Tokyo, London, New York, and Beijing. Gucci’s new collection includes four distinct pieces: a cotton sweatshirt adorned with a tree design on the back, a pair of pajama pants, a flannel shirt featuring a rabbit design on the back, and a denim jacket with motifs on the back. It is clear that Alessandro Michele has drawn inspiration from flora and fauna, breathing new life into Gucci’s aesthetic.
To emphasize the exclusive nature of their collaboration with Dover Street Market, Gucci has chosen to set their capsule collection apart from their regular creations. The men’s range, specifically designed for the concept store, is marked with a red label showcasing the luxury brand’s logo in black. In contrast, traditional Gucci clothing typically features a white label.
The partnership between Gucci and Dover Street Market was officially announced in July 2015. The Italian luxury house initially made its presence known at the Tokyo concept store. Since then, this collaboration has led to the opening of three additional corners in New York, London, and Beijing. As part of the collaboration, Gucci also released a book featuring their pre-collection, beautifully photographed by Ari Marcopoulos.
Founded by Rei Kawakubo in Tokyo in 2006, Dover Street Market has become synonymous with liberated fashion and aims to revolutionize consumer trends. This concept store serves as a platform for prestigious fashion brands and emerging young designers alike.
