Gucci North America Changemakers Impact Fund Reveals Grant Recipients

Gucci, the renowned fashion brand, has recently revealed the recipients of its second round of grants from the Gucci North America Changemakers Impact Fund. Launched in 2019, this fund strives to provide support to community organizations that work towards creating a more inclusive and diverse society. Each year, the fund grants a total of $1 million to non-profit organizations that focus on addressing social, cultural, and economic issues within North American communities.

Out of over 250 applicants, 15 outstanding non-profit organizations have been selected as this year’s grantees. These organizations hail from a wide range of fields and backgrounds, showcasing the fund’s dedication to diverse representation. The areas of focus for these organizations include mental health support for women and girls, workforce development programs, innovative platforms for Black and brown creatives in the art and fashion industry, as well as resources for the LGBTQ+ communities.

The grant recipients include notable organizations such as the Misa Hylton Fashion Academy in New York, SoHarlem in New York, Weird Enough Productions in Atlanta, Sista Afya in Chicago, SocialWorks in Chicago, Journi in Detroit, Magpies and Peacocks in Houston, The Academy Foundation/Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles, We Are R.I.S.E. in Los Angeles, Radical Partners in Miami, ProjectArt in New Orleans, Tools and Tiaras in Philadelphia, The African American Art & Culture Complex in San Francisco, Human Rights Campaign in Washington D.C., and UforChange in Toronto, Canada.

In the upcoming funding cycle, each grantee will receive up to $50,000 for a duration of one year, starting from March 1, 2021. These funds will be utilized to either establish new programs or expand existing initiatives. Alongside financial support, the grantees will have the privilege of engaging with Gucci through voluntary activities, Town Hall discussions with Gucci leadership, and other programming organized by Gucci’s North America brand and Culture Engagement team.

The previous round of grantees from the Gucci Changemakers Impact Fund have made significant strides in their respective communities. For instance, they have published a report that focuses on shedding light on the issue of pretrial incarceration in Louisiana. Additionally, a fashion program in Detroit was established to provide a platform for designers of color to showcase their exceptional work in commercial spaces.

Looking ahead, the next application period for the Gucci Changemakers Impact Fund will open in the fall of 2021. In an exciting development, Gucci has also announced its collaboration with Changemakers for the first time to release a product collection in March. This collaboration emphasizes Gucci’s unwavering commitment to promoting positive change and inclusivity.
