Gucci Mane Becomes the New Ambassador for Gucci

With his stage name being Gucci Mane, it was almost inevitable that the American rapper would eventually become the new ambassador for the Italian luxury brand Gucci. The correlation between rap and luxury is nothing new, but this autumn of 2019 further solidifies this trend. Just days before Nicki Minaj launched her capsule collection for the brand Fendi, she released a single titled “Fendi.” Now, Gucci is following suit by announcing its collaboration with another prominent figure in contemporary rap.

Gucci Mane, whose real name is Radric Davis, has been chosen as the ambassador for the 2020 Cruise collection designed by Alessandro Michele, the artistic director of Gucci. The announcement of this partnership was made on Gucci Mane’s official Instagram account, which boasts over 12 million followers. Speculation about a collaboration between the rapper and the brand had been circulating since the last Milan Fashion Week, where Gucci Mane was spotted sitting in the front row.

This collaboration has already resulted in a campaign, which was shot by artist and director Harmony Korine. In addition, a promotional video with a retro vibe has been released, featuring rock icon Iggy Pop and actress Sienna Miller. Both of these efforts aim to highlight the connection between Gucci Mane’s music and his collaboration with the Italian fashion house.

To further emphasize this connection, Gucci Mane has announced the release of a new mixtape titled “Woptober II,” which is set to be released on October 17th. The cover of the mixtape features one of the visuals from the campaign, solidifying the integration between Gucci Mane’s music and his partnership with Gucci.

Gucci Mane now joins the prestigious group of celebrities known as the Gucci Gang. This exclusive group includes singer Harry Styles, who is the face of Gucci’s latest perfume, as well as actors Dakota Johnson and Jared Leto. These celebrities all orbit around the Gucci brand, adding to its already strong presence in the world of fashion and popular culture.
