Gucci Launches SuperGucci Collaboration with Superplastic

Gucci, the renowned fashion house, is set to launch a collaboration with Superplastic, an art toy brand, that will blend both online and offline elements. The partnership, known as SuperGucci, will showcase a combination of NFT drops and physical products.

Back in December, Gucci announced its partnership with Superplastic, a company known for producing limited-edition vinyl art toys. Superplastic gained recognition through its collectible figurines co-designed with various designers and has now made its mark in the metaverse, with mascots Guggimon the rabbit and Janky the cat even appearing in the popular online game Fortnite.

With SuperGucci, Gucci plans to capture the attention of collectors and investors by merging Superplastic’s artistic style with its own, specifically incorporating the floral motifs favored by Gucci’s creative director, Alessandro Michele.

Similar to Hennessy’s recent project, SuperGucci will combine NFTs with physical objects, giving digital owners a painted porcelain counterpart of their digital piece.

The first drop of SuperGucci is scheduled for February 1st, which will take place through Gucci Vault, the brand’s new online concept store. This initial release will feature SuperJanky, a character inspired by Gucci’s Aria collection. The Aria collection was introduced in April 2021 to commemorate Gucci’s centenary and was also used as the theme for the brand’s entry into the NFT market, where a digital artwork was created and auctioned for charity, fetching a price of $25,000 at Christie’s.

With the SuperGucci collaboration, Gucci continues to embrace the world of NFTs and digital art, intertwining it with the physical realm to offer a captivating and unique experience for collectors and enthusiasts. These upcoming drops are sure to generate excitement among the fashion and art communities, as they combine high fashion and contemporary art in an innovative way.
