Gucci Launches GG Legends: A Brand Content Operation Spotlighting Esports Talents

Gucci, the renowned Florentine luxury house, has recently launched GG Legends, a brand content operation that aims to spotlight young talents in the esports industry. Following the successful inauguration of its online sports school, the Gucci Gaming Academy, the fashion brand seeks to further increase visibility for the academy through this initiative.

The first episode of Gucci’s documentary series, titled Good Game Legends, features Jorien “Sheever” van der Heijden, a Dutch esports commentator. The upcoming episode will focus on Mathieu “Zywoo” Herbaut, a notable player in the popular shooting game Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Notably, Herbaut made history by becoming the youngest player to join the FACEIT Pro League at the age of just 16.

Through its Gaming Academy, Gucci offers various resources and support to aspiring esports professionals. The academy provides online training, physical workshops, mental preparation, psychological assistance, charitable initiatives, as well as legal sessions that cover brand creation and contract negotiation. This comprehensive approach aims to equip young talents with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in the world of professional gaming.

Gucci’s foray into the esports industry comes as consumer behavior increasingly leans towards digital platforms, particularly among younger generations. By diversifying its strategic efforts and actively supporting esports talents, the luxury brand demonstrates its commitment to embracing the growing influence and potential of this rapidly expanding industry.

Notably, the Gucci Gaming Academy was recognized for its exceptional promotional film, The Bellhop, which showcased the FACEIT Pro League. The film earned the academy an Esports Award in the “Creative Piece of the Year” category in December of last year.

Currently, the Gucci Gaming Academy primarily focuses on talent recruitment in Europe and North America, with a specific emphasis on Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. However, the brand has plans to gradually expand its reach to other countries and other gaming domains, highlighting its dedication to the esports industry’s global reach and impact.
