Gucci Embraces the Metaverse and NFTs

Gucci, the renowned Italian luxury brand, is deeply interested in the metaverse and NFTs (non-fungible tokens) related to its brand heritage. To explore this further, the brand has introduced a new project called “The Next 100 Years of Gucci”. This initiative is being unveiled through an immersive experience at Vault Art Space. Gucci is fully embracing Web3 initiatives by collaborating with SuperPlastic, engaging in collaborations with digital artisans, hosting exclusive events for NFT holders, and establishing a gaming academy.

In its latest endeavor, Gucci has partnered with the online art gallery SuperRare, which specializes in crypto art, to present its very first collection of NFT artworks on Gucci Vault. This curated selection of artworks on display at Gucci Vault brings together the creations of various artists, similar to how the platform highlights external fashion designers each season. For this launch, Gucci invited 29 artists to interpret the brand and showcase their artworks. By leveraging the potential of digital art and Web3 technology, Gucci believes that it can explore limitless possibilities in the years to come. Creative director Alessandro Michele envisions a future where Gucci’s iconic Flora print takes on a multi-dimensional form and the elements of the monogrammed GG bionic body come to life.

Each digital artwork featured on Gucci Vault tells a fragment of the brand’s vibrant story, blending elements from the past and present to offer a glimpse into Gucci’s future. The artworks will be released in three consecutive drops, allowing interested parties to bid on the creations through their crypto wallet. The first drop, which debuted a few days ago and will be available until July 1st, features artworks by Alana Vanacore, Aliina Kauranne, anchenillustration, Antoni Tudisco, Dārta Katrīna, eBoy, Kris Andrew Small, and Sasha Katz. The starting prices for these artworks range from 2.5 to 6 Ethereum, approximately equivalent to 2,600 to 6,300 euros.

Overall, Gucci’s foray into the metaverse and NFTs demonstrates its commitment to embracing the digital revolution and pushing the boundaries of artistic expression. This collaboration with SuperRare showcases the brand’s dedication to incorporating cutting-edge technologies and engaging with the vibrant crypto art community. With this project, Gucci paves the way for other luxury houses to explore the exciting possibilities offered by the metaverse and NFTs.
