Gucci Changemakers Program: Designing a Future Untold

Italian luxury brand Gucci is once again demonstrating its commitment to social responsibility through its latest initiative, the Gucci Changemakers program in North America. Titled ‘Designing a Future Untold’, this program aims to support individuals and organizations that are shaping the future and creating positive change. The program consists of two components: the Gucci Changemakers Scholarship Program and Impact Fund.

Gucci chose to launch the program on Giving Tuesday, a day devoted to charitable giving. The brand has already invested nearly $4.7 million in community funding and scholarship programs, highlighting its dedication to empowering youth and supporting grassroots organizations.

Antoine Phillips, VP of brand and culture engagement at Gucci, emphasized the significance of launching the program on Giving Tuesday, stating that it is a day for giving back to communities and empowering the next generation of Gucci Changemakers. He also shared Gucci’s commitment to future impactful initiatives, indicating that the brand is embarking on a new chapter.

Since its establishment in 2019, the Changemakers Scholarship Program has received close to 4,000 applications and granted scholarships to 56 students in the United States. These students have achieved remarkable accomplishments, including launching their own clothing lines, directing critically acclaimed short films, expanding community nonprofits, and showcasing artwork worldwide. The scholarship program is open to students pursuing various fields such as fashion, design, art, business, law, film, music, and other creative or business-oriented programs.

Furthermore, the Gucci Changemakers Impact Fund has awarded grants to 43 organizations out of 2,000 applications since 2019, positively impacting over 550,000 community members in the United States. The fund supports initiatives such as mental health services, criminal justice policy reform, and economic and health support for diverse communities, including the LGBTQ+ community. The Impact Fund provides up to $1 million in grant funding to 12 community-based organizations in select Changemaker cities, with a focus on reducing gun violence, increasing voting access, and supporting individuals with disabilities.

To promote the fourth installment of the Gucci Changemakers program, Gucci collaborated with director and photographer Bon Duke to create a short film featuring three Gucci Changemakers scholars and creatives. The application deadline for the program is set for February 3, 2023.

Gucci’s commitment to supporting young creatives and driving positive change is evident in its ongoing initiatives. By investing in education and empowering diverse youth, the brand is solidifying its dedication to social responsibility and nurturing the next generation of changemakers in arts and culture.
