Gucci has announced the release of a new book titled “Blind for Love”, which offers fans an exclusive look into the behind-the-scenes action of Gucci’s Cruise 2017 show. The luxury fashion brand collaborated with renowned publisher Assouline to bring this unique book to life.
The book, also titled “Blind for Love”, showcases the inner workings of the event that took place at the cloister of Westminster Abbey in London in June 2016. The collection presented at the show embodied creative director Alessandro Michele’s vision, with a vintage aesthetic that blended historic elements with contemporary glamour and eccentricity.
Michele selected the iconic setting of Westminster Abbey to host this spectacular show. The Gucci Cruise 2017 collection featured a mix of neo-romantic influences, Indian caftans, striped cricket suits reminiscent of Bloomsbury poets, and punk Elizabethan princesses reimagined in tartan dresses.
To bring this book to life, Gucci collaborated with acclaimed photographer Nick Waplington. Waplington was granted access to the backstage of the Cruise 2017 show, allowing him to capture intimate and unique moments with Alessandro Michele and the models. The stunning photographs in the book are accompanied by quotes from the popular song “Scarborough Fair” by Simon and Garfunkel, which Gucci incorporated into the show.
This collaboration with Waplington showcases Gucci’s ongoing commitment to the art world. The fashion house recently collaborated with three Japanese artists and Trouble Andrew to create the GucciGhost collection, which was showcased through pop-up art installations in Tokyo.
“Blind for Love” will be released as a limited edition of only 1,000 copies starting from December 1, 2016. It will be available for purchase at Assouline boutiques, Dover Street Market locations in London, New York, and Tokyo, as well as Colette in Paris. Priced at 90 euros, this book offers Gucci enthusiasts an exclusive glimpse into the world of the luxury fashion brand.
