Gucci Announces New Creative Director

Two months after Alessandro Michele’s departure, Gucci has announced the name of his successor as Creative Director. As the fashion house enters the post-Michele era, it faces the challenge of maintaining its unique aesthetic while also igniting growth and development.

Alessandro Michele’s tenure at Gucci was marked by flamboyance, baroque designs, and a burlesque aesthetic. He left an indelible mark on the brand with his celebrity endorsements and innovative approaches, such as embracing the Web3 era and venturing into the Beauty and High Perfumery segment. However, Gucci’s growth has slowed down in recent months, adding to the complexity of finding a worthy successor.

Sabato De Sarno, the newly appointed Creative Director, will be tasked with both preserving Gucci’s distinctive style and reigniting its growth. With a background in the Italian fashion industry, De Sarno’s experience includes roles at Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, and Valentino. In his new position, he will oversee the women’s and men’s collections, as well as handbags, accessories, and lifestyle products.

Expressing his honor at being chosen as Gucci’s Creative Director, De Sarno highlights his alignment with the brand’s values and heritage. He is excited to share his creative vision for the future of Gucci.

At 39 years old, De Sarno will report to Marco Bizzarri, Gucci’s CEO. Bizzarri expresses confidence in De Sarno’s ability to lead the creative teams and propel the brand into an exciting new chapter, while maintaining its status as a fashion reference and capitalizing on its rich heritage.

Fashion enthusiasts can anticipate De Sarno’s debut collection for Gucci, which will be showcased during Milan Fashion Week for Women in September.
