Gucci Announces Major Change in Fashion Show Schedule for 2017

Gucci, under the creative direction of Alessandro Michele, has announced a major change in its fashion show schedule for 2017. Unlike other brands that are embracing the “See now, buy now” trend, Gucci will only present one fashion show next year in an effort to bring coherence and unity to its men’s and women’s collections. However, this decision raises the question of whether it will please the brand’s loyal followers.

The fashion industry is currently experiencing a significant shift, with brands like Burberry and Tom Ford opting to showcase both their men’s and women’s collections together and making them available for purchase immediately after the runway shows. This approach, known as “See now, buy now,” aims to satisfy consumers’ desire for instant gratification and capitalize on the buzz generated by the fashion shows.

Gucci, on the other hand, will not be following this trend. Marco Bizzari, the CEO of Gucci, explained that the brand will stick to its traditional “see now, buy later” strategy. He believes that maintaining separate shows for men’s and women’s collections is a matter of tradition and respects the creative and production process in the luxury fashion industry. While other brands prioritize immediate commercialization, Gucci values the time and effort required to produce high-quality luxury clothing.

Despite this commitment to tradition, Gucci will still combine its men’s and women’s fashion shows in 2017. This decision is in line with Alessandro Michele’s vision for the brand, which has focused on blurring the lines between genders. Michele has successfully transformed Gucci’s image by symbolizing the alliance between men and women through his collections. It is only natural that the brand will merge its men’s and women’s collections to further emphasize this message.

However, the question remains: will Gucci’s loyal followers embrace this change? It is yet to be seen whether the consolidation of the fashion shows will be well-received by the brand’s customers. Only time will tell if this decision proves successful for Gucci.
