Graduate Fashion Week 2022: Live Catwalk Shows Return

Graduate Fashion Week 2022 is gearing up for an impactful return with its first live catwalk shows since 2019. The Graduate Fashion Foundation has revealed the full schedule for the event, which will be held from June 20th to June 24th at Coal Drops Yard in London’s King’s Cross. As the world’s largest exhibition of BA Fashion talent, the event will feature the works of 25 universities.

The week will commence with a glamorous VIP Opening Night Catwalk, curated and hosted by GFF ambassadors Henry Holland, Patrick McDowell, and the newly appointed GFW Ambassador Munroe Bergdorf. This star-studded affair will showcase designs from the Foundation’s 40 UK Member Universities. The return of live catwalk experiences is highly anticipated by the fashion industry.

Aside from the catwalk shows, GFW will present a series of events within the GFW Dome presentation space, featuring work from four additional universities. One of the main highlights will be the GFW Live! talks, held at Samsung KX. Esteemed industry experts including Nadja Swarovski, Teatum Jones, and Jimmy Choo will share their valuable insights and experiences in the fashion world.

In addition to its physical presence, GFW is fully embracing the digital landscape. The GFW website will feature live-streamed content, including the runway shows, GFW Live! industry talks, and 37 exclusive creative university fashion films. Users will have the opportunity to engage with the content through live chat, creating an immersive and interactive experience.

Furthermore, an exhibition of work from the 40 UK Member Universities will provide a comprehensive overview of the talent and creativity within the fashion industry. To further support graduate designers, GFW has organized a Retail Trail, where their work will be displayed in stores across Coal Drops Yard, including renowned brands such as Tom Dixon, Fred Perry, and Cos.

The appointment of Munroe Bergdorf as the new GFW Ambassador has generated excitement and anticipation among fashion enthusiasts. Bergdorf, a model and activist, expressed her enthusiasm for the role and her admiration for the future fashion leaders. She emphasized her commitment to supporting them by wearing their creations on shoots and red carpets. Bergdorf is eager to witness the innovative ideas and groundbreaking work that this year’s cohort will present on the runway.

Combining live and digital experiences, Graduate Fashion Week 2022 promises to captivate audiences and showcase the immense talent of emerging fashion designers. This event serves as a platform for creativity, innovation, and industry collaboration, solidifying GFW’s position as a driving force in shaping the future of fashion.
