Google Cloud and Victoria’s Secret Announce Strategic Partnership for AI Integration

Google Cloud and Victoria’s Secret have announced a strategic partnership that will see generative AI technology integrated into Victoria’s Secret’s shopping experience. By utilizing Google Cloud’s AI capabilities, the brand will introduce a generative AI-powered conversational assistant for its website and mobile app. Additionally, virtual try-on capabilities will be implemented to provide personalized product recommendations to customers.

In addition to the partnership with Victoria’s Secret, Google Cloud has launched a range of new AI products tailored specifically for retailers. One notable offering is a conversational commerce solution, which aims to bring AI-powered virtual assistants to more online stores and mobile apps. This technology enables retailers to enhance their customer service by providing automated assistance through virtual chatbots.

Another innovative product in Google Cloud’s AI portfolio is the Vertex AI search for retail. This tool allows retailers to customize language models to their unique product catalogs and customer search patterns. By fine-tuning large language models (LLMs), retailers can offer more accurate and relevant search results to their customers, ultimately improving the overall user experience.

Google Cloud has also developed a customer service modernization solution that integrates generative AI capabilities into existing management systems. This integration allows retailers to streamline internal tasks and deliver personalized customer service. By automating certain processes and providing conversation summaries, AI technology helps optimize workflow efficiency and enhance the customer experience.

Catalog and content enrichment is another focus area for Google Cloud. Through the use of generative AI, this solution accelerates product cataloguing by automatically generating product descriptions and optimizing language for search engine optimization (SEO) purposes. Retailers can quickly and effectively categorize their products, ensuring that customers can easily find what they are looking for.

To better understand the readiness and perception of AI adoption among retailers, Google conducted a research study involving C-suite executives, information technology leads, and business development managers in the UK. The study revealed that 81% of decision-makers feel a sense of urgency to adopt generative AI technologies, with over half of the respondents (55%) expressing readiness to deploy generative AI in their operations.

The study participants identified several areas where generative AI can have a substantial impact on their businesses. Customer service automation emerged as a key area of interest, with 66% of respondents wanting to leverage generative AI to streamline customer service processes and reduce the need for human intervention. Product descriptions and marketing copy were also highlighted, with approximately 48% of respondents expressing their desire to use generative AI to accelerate product categorization and generate customer-centric marketing content.

Generative AI can also be employed to empower retail creative teams, with 39% of survey participants stating their intention to leverage this technology to curate bespoke images and creative content for campaigns and editorial placements. Analyzing emotional sentiments in customer feedback is another area where generative AI can play a significant role, with approximately 43% of respondents expressing interest in using this technology to understand customer sentiment and refine their strategies accordingly.

Lastly, generative AI can address shopper inquiries with interactive responses beyond simple product recommendations, with 46% of respondents seeing this capability as a way to enhance the customer experience and provide more comprehensive support.

Overall, Google’s research study highlights the growing importance and urgency of adopting generative AI technologies in the retail industry. With numerous practical applications and the potential to revolutionize customer experiences, retailers are increasingly embracing AI to drive innovation and gain a competitive edge in the market.
