Global Design Graduate Show Winners Announced

Arts Thread, a renowned digital platform for emerging artists and designers, has recently revealed the winners of the Global Design Graduate Show. This highly anticipated annual event, held in partnership with luxury brand Gucci, celebrates the talent and ingenuity of young designers across various categories.

Dominika Grzybek, hailing from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, received the top prize in the Fashion/Accessories/Textiles category for her exceptional womenswear collection. Archie Hammond from Northumbria University in Newcastle Upon Tyne secured the victory in the Menswear category, while Emily Clarke from the Kingston School of Art in London emerged as the winner in Sport & Denim. Padina Bonder from Parsons School of Design in New York was acknowledged for her sustainable fashion and textiles designs.

Shirel Abergel from The NB Haifa School of Design was honored in the Genderless category, Josefina Maiza from IED Istituto Europeo di Design in Madrid bagged the Fashion Communication prize, and Erin Yang from the Royal College of Art in London claimed the Accessories award. Camila Barrero from UPC Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas in Lima excelled in the Textiles-Print/Embroidery category, while Pauline Dujancourt from Central Saint Martins UAL in London was commended for her work in Textiles-Knit/Weave.

In addition to the judges’ awards, there was a Fashion award chosen by public vote. Lyu Danlei, a student from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, proudly claimed this prestigious honor.

The Global Design Graduate Show received an extraordinary number of entries this year, with a massive 5,489 students participating in the competition. The event featured four main categories: Fashion/Accessories/Textiles, Fine Art/Photography/Craft, Product Design/Architecture/Interiors, and Digital/Visual Communication/Film. Out of this staggering number of submissions, 500 were shortlisted, surpassing the previous years’ figures. Consequently, Arts Thread has aptly described this event as the largest online showcase of emerging artists and designers from all corners of the world.

The Global Design Graduate Show serves as an invaluable platform for young designers to exhibit their talents and gain significant industry exposure. Thanks to the support of Arts Thread and Gucci, these graduates now have the opportunity to establish their names and kickstart their careers.
