Glenn Martens and Aska Yamashita announced as Chairs of the Juries for the 2022 Hyères Festival

Belgian designer Glenn Martens and embroidery expert Aska Yamashita have been selected as the chairs of the juries for the highly anticipated 2022 Hyères Festival. This prestigious event, scheduled to take place from October 13 to 16, is a platform for showcasing the incredible work of talented designers and photographers from all corners of the globe.

Glenn Martens, renowned for his role as the creative director of Y/Project and Diesel, is acclaimed for his groundbreaking and avant-garde designs. Recently, he left the fashion world in awe with his Haute Couture collection for Jean Paul Gaultier in Paris. As the head of the fashion jury, Martens will undoubtedly bring his wealth of expertise and unique perspective to the festival, adding an extraordinary touch to the proceedings.

Aska Yamashita, the artistic director of the prestigious Atelier Montex, a renowned embroidery workshop, has been appointed as the chair of the fashion accessories jury. Her mastery of the intricate art of embroidery will undoubtedly infuse the festival with depth, creativity, and a new level of artistry.

The announcement of this exciting news took place at the brand-new 19M space in Porte d’Aubervilliers, Paris. The festival’s grand partner, Chanel, arranged an exhibition at this location. Jean-Pierre Blanc, the founder and CEO of the Hyères Festival, officially launched the 37th edition of the event, while also revealing the carefully selected finalists. During the announcement, Blanc also introduced a new award, “L’atelier des matières,” which will be presented in the fashion category.

In addition to Martens and Yamashita, the juries will consist of several other highly esteemed industry professionals. The fashion jury will include fashion stylist Ursina Gysi, who has collaborated with top designers and brands, as well as the Ottolinger label founders, Cosima Gadient and Christa Bösch. The accessories jury will include fashion stylist Alexandre Blanc, Eloi Chafai, co-founder of a creative agency, and lingerie designer Yasmine Eslami. Meanwhile, the photography jury will be chaired by Pieter Mulier, the creative director of Alaïa, and Matthieu Blazy, the creative director of Bottega Veneta.

The Hyères Festival is internationally regarded for its emphasis on showcasing emerging talent and continually pushing the boundaries of fashion and photography. With Glenn Martens and Aska Yamashita leading the way, the 2022 edition of the festival promises to be an exceptional event that will be remembered in the industry calendar.
