Givenchy Introduces Givenchy Plage Collection

Givenchy, the renowned luxury fashion brand, is introducing its latest collection called Givenchy Plage, which focuses on beachwear. This new capsule collection draws inspiration from Givenchy’s original beachwear line designed by its founder Hubert de Givenchy in the 1950s. The collection caters to both men and women, offering a variety of around twenty pieces that can be easily mixed and matched or incorporated into one’s existing wardrobe.

The style of Givenchy Plage is described as casual yet elegant, showcasing an array of striped cotton shirts, shorts, short dresses, tops, sarongs, hooded caftans, terrycloth shorts with embossed logos, linen tops, macramé skirts, knitted dresses, sun-dyed denim shirts, and swimwear. The creative director of Givenchy, Matthew M. Williams, delved into the brand’s archives and unearthed images of Hubert de Givenchy’s initial swimwear collection, which made its debut in New York in 1952. Due to its tremendous success in America, Hubert de Givenchy continued to present beachwear throughout the following decades, and now this rich heritage is being revived in the Givenchy Plage collection.

Some pieces from the collection even feature slogans like “Beach Club 52” and “Givenchy Beach Club Cap Ferrat 52,” paying homage to the Provençal farmhouse Clos Fiorentina that the founder acquired in 1985 in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, a town situated in the south of France.

The Givenchy Plage collection draws inspiration from the French Riviera, where Hubert de Givenchy found inspiration in the distinctive light and colors of the region. The color palette of the collection includes delicate hues such as pale pink, sky blue, lilac, light grey, washed denim, sailor stripes, as well as the brand’s signature black and white. In addition to swimwear, the collection also features various accessories like woven straw baskets, bobs and caps, rubber flip-flops, sandals, and jewelry.

Givenchy is also emphasizing the traceability of its clothing within this collection. Some swimwear models are labeled with QR codes, providing customers with care instructions and information about the supply chain. This initiative ensures transparency and sustainability, aligning with the brand’s commitment to ethical practices.

The Givenchy Plage collection has been available in stores and online since mid-April and will continue to be released until mid-May. Prices for the collection range from 275 euros for pool sandals to 1,390 euros for a terrycloth dress with embossed jacquard. With its timeless elegance and meticulous attention to detail, Givenchy Plage offers a stylish beachwear option for individuals looking to add a touch of luxury to their summer wardrobe.
