Giorgio Armani’s ‘Cipria’ Collection: Exquisite Fashion Show and Exhibition

Renowned fashion designer Giorgio Armani recently wowed audiences with his latest collection, titled ‘Cipria’, which translates to ‘makeup’ in Italian. The collection, exhibited in Milan, exuded delicacy and refinement, perfectly living up to its name. This exclusive show was held in Armani’s own lavish theater, located within his historic palazzo at Via Borgonuovo 21. Limited to an audience of only 200 people, the presentation took place twice, allowing attendees to fully immerse themselves in the grandeur of Armani’s creations.

The show itself was reminiscent of the art of maquillage, with a captivating opening backdrop featuring three models elegantly posed on a chaise longue adorned with soft golden cushions. As they gracefully walked upon a faux-marble floor, the models showcased a range of clothing pieces, including pajama suits, enveloping shawls, soft trousers, elongated jackets, and dresses. The color palette of the collection drew inspiration from makeup hues, featuring tones like tortilla brown, caramel, almond, powder pink, and black. The evening looks were particularly striking, displaying pink wool bouclé dressing gowns, pleated sheathes, satin jumpsuits, tuxedos, velvet pants, pinstripe velvet jackets, and jumpsuits. To add a touch of femininity and a hint of Mandarin influence, the cast accessorized their outfits with gamine berets, fringed shawls, and fringed bags.

In addition to his signature show, Giorgio Armani took the opportunity to unveil an Emporio Armani collection and present an exhibition titled ‘Guy Bourdin: Storyteller inside Armani/Silos’ at his art foundation. This exhibition celebrated the works of renowned French photographer Guy Bourdin, showcasing photographs that bore a remarkable resemblance to Armani’s iconic collection. One particularly striking photo from 1986, featured in French Vogue, depicted a model indulging in self-admiration while surrounded by a makeup kit on a rocky shore. Another surrealistic photograph captured a single eye adorned with similar makeup among a sea of damp black umbrellas. Armani, emphasizing the significance of the exhibition, highlighted its role in promoting contemporary photography culture and embracing diverse artistic influences.

Despite a hectic schedule, Giorgio Armani’s unwavering passion for creativity shines through. His signature show garnered a well-deserved standing ovation, a testament to his extraordinary career. Among the notable attendees who enthusiastically applauded Armani’s collection were actresses Isabelle Huppert, Nafessa Williams, and Laura Haddock, Italian senator Liliana Segre, singer Ornella Vanoni, Chinese model Lela Wang, and Kyra Kennedy, the granddaughter of Robert Kennedy.

With his latest collection, Giorgio Armani demonstrated his timeless style while infusing a softer, more feminine touch. Although the designer may appear more fragile compared to his younger years, his creative spirit burns brighter than ever. The ‘Cipria’ collection perfectly embodies Armani’s unwavering commitment to perfection and his remarkable ability to adapt with changing times, solidifying his position as one of the fashion industry’s most iconic figures.
