Giorgio Armani Withdraws from Fashion Weeks Due to COVID-19

Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani has recently announced his decision to withdraw from the upcoming international Fashion Weeks. Both the Giorgio Armani and Emporio Armani Fall/Winter 2022-2023 collections will not be showcased at Milan Men’s Fashion Week, which is scheduled to begin on January 14th. In addition, Armani has also cancelled the presentation of his Armani Privé collection, originally planned for the end of January during Paris Haute Couture Week.

The fashion house expressed great regret in making this decision, which was prompted by the resurgence of the Covid-19 pandemic in Europe. Despite acknowledging the crucial and irreplaceable nature of fashion shows, Armani prioritized the health and safety of his employees and the public.

Using social media as his platform, Giorgio Armani voiced his concern about the current situation and affirmed his determination to create “moments of joy, gathering, and sharing of opinions in a safe environment.”

It is worth noting that Armani was among the 22 brands initially intending to present their collections in person at the upcoming Milan Fashion Week. This move follows Armani’s previous voluntary withdrawal from physical fashion shows in February 2020 for similar health and safety reasons.
