Giorgio Armani Corporation Appoints Izumi Sasano as CEO

Giorgio Armani Corporation, the American subsidiary of the renowned Italian luxury group, has announced the appointment of Izumi Sasano as its new CEO. Sasano, who brings a wealth of experience with him, having previously served as the head of Giorgio Armani Japan for close to two decades, will now oversee operations in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Brazil. This leadership change comes as Gaetano Sciuto, the former CEO, moves on to become the CEO of Maison Margiela.

Effective from December 1, Sasano will report to Giuseppe Marsocci, the deputy managing director and commercial director of the Armani Group. As Sasano assumes his new role, Kazumasa Tsuchihashi will step into his previous position as the head of Giorgio Armani Japan.

Sasano brings an impressive background in the luxury goods industry, boasting over twenty years of experience. He began his career at Sony, a multinational corporation, where he held senior positions in Europe. In 2000, Sasano made the leap into the fashion industry by joining Chanel’s Japanese subsidiary. Then, in 2006, he joined Giorgio Armani and has since been successfully leading the company’s operations in Japan.

Giorgio Armani has expressed utmost confidence in Sasano’s ability to excel in his new position and has highlighted the importance of cultural exchange for the continued growth and enrichment of the Armani Group.

Sasano will now spearhead a strategic market that includes over 300 Giorgio Armani boutiques. The United States, in particular, has become a vital market for the brand, experiencing a notable 20% increase in sales last year. In the financial year of 2022, the Armani group reported impressive sales of €2.35 billion, showcasing a substantial 16.5% growth compared to the previous year. The gross operating profit (Ebitda) also saw a significant rise of 25% to reach €289 million.
