Gareth Pugh’s Return to Fashion with ‘The Reconstruction’

After a two-year absence from the Paris schedule, celebrated British fashion designer Gareth Pugh is back with a bang, ready to showcase his latest creations in a live exhibition at Christie’s during London Fashion Week. Pugh, known for his avant-garde and boundary-pushing designs, has curated 13 new looks that reflect his unique vision and draw inspiration from the worlds of fashion, music, and film.

Entitled ‘The Reconstruction’, Pugh’s latest project is a collaborative effort that brings together artists, activists, and change-makers from the UK. Renowned fashion photographer Nick Knight has captured 13 stills and fashion films that showcase Pugh’s designs in a visually stunning way. Digital artist Jon Emmony has also contributed by creating virtual landscapes as the backdrop for the exhibition, adding another layer of creativity to the project.

The theme of the collection, described as fashion’s new “frontierland”, is further explored in a feature-length fashion documentary co-written by Pugh’s creative co-director, Carson McColl. The live exhibition at Christie’s will feature key looks from the collection, accompanied by Knight’s striking imagery, providing a multi-sensory experience for attendees.

While the designs on display will not be available for purchase, Pugh has collaborated with emerging designer Melissa Mehrtens to create a limited-edition jersey capsule collection featuring prints inspired by his original creations. This collection will be sold for £75 in partnership with HIT + RUN, with proceeds going to Refuge, a charity that supports women and children escaping domestic violence.

Gareth Pugh’s return to the fashion scene promises to be a captivating and socially conscious event that reflects his innovative approach to design. The live exhibition at Christie’s is a testament to Pugh’s dedication to pushing boundaries and creating impactful fashion experiences. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to witness Pugh’s groundbreaking designs up close!
