Ganni Slouchy Boots: Revolutionizing Fashion with Pélinova

Ganni Slouchy Boots are poised to revolutionize the fashion industry with the introduction of a groundbreaking leather alternative known as Pélinova. This innovative material is a fusion of Tencel Lyocell fibers and recycled leather fibers, developed through a collaboration between Lenzing Group and Recyc Leather, specialists in specialty fibers and leather alternatives respectively.

The unique properties of Pélinova make it particularly well-suited for high-end fashion applications, prompting Danish brand Ganni to team up with Lenzing Group and Recyc Leather to bring the material to market. The Slouchy Boots from Ganni will serve as the first product to exemplify the potential of this new-generation material, with their release scheduled for early this year.

The partnership between Lenzing Group, Recyc Leather, and Ganni extends beyond footwear, as the three companies recognize the potential of Pélinova in the accessories category and are committed to further developing and scaling the use of this environmentally friendly leather alternative.

To highlight their collaborative efforts as an example of responsible fashion production through the use of recycled materials, Lenzing Group, Recyc Leather, and Ganni will participate in a panel discussion during the upcoming Première Vision Paris. The aim of this discussion is to encourage other companies to unite in creating high-end fashion using sustainable materials.

So, what exactly is Pélinova? This game-changing material is created through a transparent process that involves combining pre-consumer recycled leather with Tencel Lyocell fibers. Tencel Lyocell fibers are known for their resource-saving and closed-loop production process, as well as their resistance to odors caused by bacteria. The resulting material is supple, flexible, and durable, boasting a significantly lower environmental impact as it consumes 70% less water and reduces CO2 emissions compared to traditional methods.

Ganni’s Chief Sustainability Officer, Lauren Bartley, has emphasized the brand’s commitment to sustainable fashion by phasing out virgin leather from their upcoming collections. This year will witness the brand’s first collection without any virgin leather, both in their ready-to-wear and accessories lines. Bartley recognizes the importance of collaborations and fabric innovation in developing alternatives to traditional materials and contributing to ambitious carbon reduction goals.

The introduction of Ganni Slouchy Boots made from Pélinova marks an exciting development in the fashion industry, showcasing the potential for eco-friendly alternatives to leather and encouraging other brands to explore sustainable options. With the partnership between Lenzing Group, Recyc Leather, and Ganni, the future of responsible fashion appears promising. These companies are collaboratively paving the way for a more sustainable and ethical approach to luxury fashion.
