Galeries Lafayette Pays Tribute to Virgil Abloh with Immersive Experience

From now until March 1st, the iconic Parisian department store, Galeries Lafayette, is paying tribute to the late Virgil Abloh with a series of installations. Abloh, who sadly passed away on November 28th at the age of 41, left a lasting legacy through his work for Louis Vuitton, his brand Off-White, and his groundbreaking projects and collaborations. While a retrospective is scheduled for July at the Brooklyn Museum in New York, Galeries Lafayette is currently showcasing an immersive experience in honor of the designer.

The program includes an Off-White skate park and the revival of the brand’s iconic “Meteor” motif, which was introduced back in 2013. Additionally, quotes from Abloh are being shared, reminding everyone of his impactful artistic and societal vision. The latest collection from Off-White, designed by Abloh himself, will be presented live this Monday, February 28th, at 8 pm. The show will be broadcasted in the windows of Galeries Lafayette Haussmann, allowing the public to witness Abloh’s final creations, just as they did for Louis Vuitton at the end of January.

It is worth noting that there are currently no announced successors for either Off-White or Louis Vuitton. However, the designs of Virgil Abloh continue to captivate luxury enthusiasts and collectors. In fact, a recent auction at Sotheby’s featured sneakers created by Abloh for Louis Vuitton in collaboration with Nike, and they fetched an astonishing amount of $25.3 million, setting a new record.
