Galeries Lafayette Launches New Corporate Identity with Focus on Sustainable Fashion and Ethical Practices

Galeries Lafayette has recently revealed a fresh corporate identity with a focus on championing sustainable fashion and ethical practices. The renowned department store chain is gearing up for a major commercial campaign set to launch this fall, with the legendary British fashion designer and activist Vivienne Westwood headlining the event.

Vivienne Westwood, a trailblazer in the fashion industry since her debut in London in 1971, is widely recognized for her revolutionary designs and her tireless advocacy for human rights and environmental conservation. From September 2 to October 14, visitors can admire Westwood’s creations in a captivating shop window display at Galeries Lafayette’s Haussmann flagship store in Paris, alongside a pop-up store located on the first floor.

In tandem with showcasing Westwood’s iconic pieces, Galeries Lafayette is rolling out a groundbreaking creative initiative dubbed “Changeons de mode.” A natural progression from the successful ‘Go for Good’ campaign introduced in 2018, this new project will be steered by acclaimed US photographer Roe Ethridge, who will spearhead the revamping of the department store’s visual aesthetic with the debut campaign slated for autumn.

Nicolas Houzé, the General Manager, underscored the significance of curating a range of products and services that not only exude style but are also rooted in ethical values. Building upon the ‘Go for Good’ ethos, which featured a lineup of eco-conscious brands fostering environmental stewardship, community-centric manufacturing, and social upliftment, Galeries Lafayette has enlisted the support of four influential personalities drawn from the realms of fashion, cinema, and business to serve as brand ambassadors.

As part of the “Changeons de mode” project, the department store will play host to a series of enlightening conferences and introduce fresh initiatives throughout the autumn season. To showcase the burgeoning talent in the fashion industry, the French women’s ready-to-wear federation will operate a pop-up store showcasing the creations of 10 emerging designers on the second floor from September 19 to October 13. Additionally, in a show of solidarity with the ANDAM young designer prize, Galeries Lafayette will organize an exhibition in the Galerie des Galeries area commemorating the prize’s 30th anniversary.

Through these concerted efforts, Galeries Lafayette is taking a significant stride towards advancing sustainable fashion and ethical practices within the fashion landscape, resonating with the escalating call for transparency and accountability in the production and consumption of fashion.
