Future Acquires Women’s Lifestyle Platform Who What Wear

British publishing group Future has made a significant move in the fashion and beauty publishing industry with its acquisition of women’s lifestyle platform Who What Wear. The deal, which saw Future pay an estimated $100 million for the online publication, further cements the company’s commitment to expanding its presence and revenue opportunities in the US market.

Founded in 2006 by former Elle magazine editors Katherine Power and Hillary Kerr, Who What Wear quickly gained popularity and was later merged into Clique Brands in 2012. Despite being based in the US, the platform has achieved international reach, boasting an impressive 12 million users and 10 million social media followers.

In addition to its digital presence, Who What Wear also offers a range of clothing and accessories. Chief Content Officer Hillary Kerr highlighted the platform’s dedication to innovation in various forms of digital content, including website and social media content, live stream shopping, and podcasts. Kerr expressed excitement about the growth opportunities that this acquisition will bring, further positioning Who What Wear as a pioneer in the industry.

With titles like Marie Claire and Country Life already under its belt, Future already reaches a third of online adults in the US with its content. The acquisition of Who What Wear, which was funded by existing debt, is expected to drive further growth for Future in this crucial market.

This acquisition serves as a significant milestone for Future as it expands its presence in the fashion and beauty publishing industry. The addition of Who What Wear to its portfolio positions Future as a major player in the US market, solidifying its position and paving the way for continued growth in the future.
