Furla’s Milestone: Surpassing €500 Million in Revenue

Furla, the esteemed Italian leather goods label recognized for its luxurious yet accessible products, has reached a significant milestone in 2018 by surpassing the €500 million revenue mark. Despite a slight slowdown in its growth rate, Furla managed to achieve an impressive revenue of €513 million last year, marking a 2.8% increase in sales compared to the prior year where a substantial 18.5% surge was recorded. The group explained this deceleration as a deliberate pivot towards more strategic and focused growth in complementary product categories.

To bolster its growth trajectory, Furla has unveiled plans to invest in fortifying its supply chain, fostering cultural integration within the organization, and upgrading its technological capabilities. Across its main markets, the brand experienced growth, with the Asia-Pacific region emerging as a significant contributor, representing 26% of the total revenue. Furla’s performance in the USA was particularly notable, with sales soaring by 13.2%.

The brand’s e-commerce platform witnessed remarkable growth, with sales skyrocketing by 45.7% in 2018. Furla’s emphasis on enhancing its digital presence translated into substantial revenue gains. Additionally, the travel retail segment, encompassing 293 stores across 64 countries, saw a noteworthy 16.2% growth in sales.

Established in 1927 by the Furlanetto family in Bologna, Furla remains steadfast in its independence despite expressions of interest from potential investors. With 490 monobrand stores globally, of which 285 are company-owned, 163 are franchised, and 42 are situated in the travel retail sector, Furla boasts an extensive retail network. Moreover, the brand’s products are retailed through 1,200 multi-brand stores, underscoring its broad market presence.

Overall, Furla’s strategic investments, targeted growth approach, and diversification into new product segments have positioned the brand for continued success in the competitive luxury goods landscape. With a robust footing in key markets and an expanding online footprint, Furla continues to reinforce its standing as a prominent player in the luxury leather goods sector.
