Frimousses de Créateurs Annual Charity Event

Frimousses de Créateurs, an annual charity event, has been bringing together fashion designers, artists, jewelers, and designers for the past 11 years to provide assistance to the children of Darfur. This year’s event, the 12th edition, is named Opera, Aria, etc., and combines opera, contemporary art, and humanitarianism. The funds raised from the auction will support the “Objective 100%, Vaccinate Every Child” campaign, which aims to vaccinate children in Darfur.

Among the participating artists are renowned fashion houses, such as Chanel, Gucci, Dior, and Jean-Paul Gaultier. These designers have generously created unique haute-couture dolls for the auction. These dolls, ranging in height from 40 to 60cm, will be exhibited at the Théâtre du Châtelet from November 18th to 23rd before being sold at the auction on November 24th.

The Frimousses de Créateurs operation was launched in 2002 by UNICEF and has since gained the support of some of the biggest names in the fashion industry. Each fashion house participating in the event has created dolls inspired by the world of opera, with each doll representing a specific theme or character. The dolls, crafted with meticulous attention to detail, feature exquisite fabrics, embroidery, and accessories.

For example, Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel doll, named Paris Byzance, was created for the “Paris Byzance” fashion show. Christian Dior’s doll, named Olga, is a silk doll adorned with crystals and gemstones. Dolce & Gabbana’s doll, named Violetta, is inspired by the main character of Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata. Gucci’s doll, named Papageno, is made of 1000 hand-applied colorful feathers. Jean Paul Gaultier’s doll, named Ballet Master, was inspired by a haute couture model from the Fall/Winter 2011-2012 collection, and Prada’s doll, named Joanna, wears an outfit from the Fall/Winter 2014 collection.

These exquisite couture dolls will be auctioned off at the Théâtre du Châtelet on November 24th, with the proceeds going towards supporting the vaccination of children in Darfur. By participating in Frimousses de Créateurs, these fashion houses are not only showcasing their creativity and artistry but also making a meaningful contribution to the well-being of children in need.
