Former Tapestry CEO Victor Luis Becomes Executive Chairman and Investor of Moose Knuckles

Canadian luxury outerwear and sportswear brand, Moose Knuckles, has announced that Victor Luis, the former CEO of Tapestry, has been appointed as the executive chairman and investor of the company. Luis will join co-CEOs Noah Stern and Ayal Twik, as well as their families and global investment firm Cathay Capital, in investing in the brand. This investment and Luis’ involvement will help drive the expansion of Moose Knuckles, which has already established a strong presence in North America and Europe.

The focus for Moose Knuckles now is on entering the Asian market, particularly China, where there is a significant opportunity for luxury goods. The brand currently operates three brick-and-mortar stores in China and plans to open an additional ten stores by the end of 2022. The co-CEOs expressed their excitement about partnering with Victor on the brand’s next chapter, as they believe his proven track record in global brand growth will be invaluable in steering Moose Knuckles’ international expansion.

Moose Knuckles has experienced impressive growth in recent years, with a compound annual growth rate of nearly 50% and a triple-digit increase in direct-to-consumer sales. The brand’s outerwear is sold in luxury retailers across 30 countries, including Selfridges, Holt Renfrew, Saks Fifth Avenue, Isetan, and Lane Crawford. With offices in Montreal, New York, Milan, London, and Shanghai, Moose Knuckles is well-positioned to capitalize on the global demand for luxury outerwear.

Before joining Moose Knuckles, Victor Luis had an extensive career with French luxury companies LVMH and Baccarat. He joined Coach in 2006 and served as the president and CEO of Coach Japan. Currently, Luis also serves as an independent director of Farfetch Ltd. and Deckers Outdoor Corp. His investment in Moose Knuckles marks an important collaboration between him and Cathay Capital as an Operating Partner.

The partnership between Moose Knuckles and Victor Luis has been praised by Mark Woods and Andre Puong, Partners of Cathay Capital, who believe that Luis’ extensive luxury experience on a global scale will propel the brand to become a top player in the modern luxury outerwear industry.
