Former Gucci executive Martin Barthel has been appointed to lead the start-up incubator, BCG Digital Ventures, at management consultancy firm Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in Paris. With a background in luxury and e-commerce, having previously worked at eBay and Facebook, Barthel’s expertise positions him well to spearhead the innovation and development of groundbreaking start-ups for major corporations. In his new role, Barthel will primarily focus on initiatives related to the digital transformation of leading consumer goods and retail industry groups.
BCG Digital Ventures currently operates sixteen centers and laboratories globally, including locations in Berlin, London, New York, Shanghai, and Paris. The incubator collaborates closely with over 400 clients worldwide, offering innovative solutions and support for their digital transformation requirements.
Barthel’s appointment at BCG follows his successful two-year tenure leading Gucci’s digital business. Last year, Jessica Martino assumed the role of Chief Digital Business Officer at Gucci, overseeing the luxury brand’s digital operations from New York.
Given Barthel’s extensive experience and BCG’s expertise in digital innovation, the Parisian start-up incubator is expected to thrive under his leadership. The partnership between major corporations and BCG Digital Ventures will continue to drive digital transformation and revolutionize the consumer goods and retail industry.
