Filippa K Announces Liisa Kessler as New Creative Director

Filippa K, the renowned Swedish fashion house known for its timeless Scandinavian style, has recently announced Liisa Kessler as its new Creative Director. Having previously worked as a designer at Saint Laurent, Kessler brings a wealth of experience to her new role where she will oversee all creative aspects of Filippa K at its Stockholm ateliers. Her inaugural collection for the brand is set to be unveiled in June, marking an exciting new chapter for Filippa K.

This appointment holds significant importance for the fashion house as Kessler takes over the reins from founder Filippa Knutsson, who stepped back from the position in 2019. While Kessler aims to uphold the brand’s heritage of timeless Scandinavian style and dedication to mindful consumption, she also intends to bring forth a noticeable shift in the creative direction of Filippa K.

Kessler boasts an impressive background in the industry, having previously worked with esteemed fashion houses such as Chloé, Y/Project, and Lanvin. Prior to joining Filippa K, she spent five years as a senior designer for show collections at Saint Laurent. With her training in tailoring and dressmaking, coupled with a degree in Fashion Design from the prestigious Berlin University of the Arts, Kessler’s expertise is sure to bring a fresh perspective to Filippa K.

Expressing her excitement for the new role, Kessler recognizes Filippa Knutsson as one of the pioneers of Scandinavian minimalism. She believes that Knutsson’s vision of an uncomplicated, desirable, and sustainable wardrobe remains just as relevant in today’s fashion landscape as it did when the brand was founded. Kessler is eager to collaborate with the teams at Filippa K to usher in a new era for the company, while upholding and celebrating simplicity, style, quality, and the power of ease.

Rikard Frost, CEO of Filippa K, commends Kessler’s exceptional creative talent and her innate understanding of craftsmanship. He sees her as the perfect candidate to preserve the brand’s heritage while leading it into an ambitious future. Frost also highlights Kessler’s unique blend of Scandinavian and international influences, making her a natural successor to Filippa Knutsson.

With Liisa Kessler at the helm, Filippa K is poised for an exciting chapter as it evolves its creative vision while staying true to its core values. Fashion enthusiasts can eagerly anticipate the brand’s transformation under Kessler’s leadership in the upcoming seasons.
